Habits of Sin Learned at the Morticians

John Street tells about the trips that pastoral students take to the morticians before the embalm the body.  After a person dies, the muscle memory will cause the body to do odd things.  The body will sit up.  The body will reach up and scratch the face.

Taking this illustration, Street reminds us that when we sin we are exercising our bodies unto unrighteousness, and using the illustration of the dead body, he reminds us that we build a habit of evil doing when we continue to sin unrepentingly.  As Christians, we should be exercising our bodies unto righteousness; this is a fruit of the Spirit working in us.

We are saved to be holy and like Christ!
