There is a controversy, I am told, about personal evangelism among some Reformed Baptists. On one side people say that personal evangelism is evangelising people around the in their lives, while on the other side people say that personal evangelism is bringing people around us to church to be evangelised.
This argument reaffirms that there is nothing on new under the Sun. This is the sort of ridiculous argument that is a waste of the precious time that we should be redeeming for the Savior. We should be like Paul who didn't really care if the Gospel was preached to hurt him or preached to help him.. Paul's cry was 'just preach the Gospel!'
During my Spiritual sojourn among Fundamentalist Baptists there were similar arguments in their association of churches. They never served to advance the Gospel. When I heard about this inane contentiousness among this new-found Reformed circle, I had an eerie feeling of Deja Vu.
Hopefully my brothers in this other association can step back from the brink of the cliff of internal bickering, and turn about to shout the Gospel to the lost and perishing.
