Staring Into the Cup

I have been reading C. J. Mahaney's book, Living the Christ Centered Life.  It's so easy to read about Christ facing the cup of the wrath of God and not sensing the absolute agony of soul that Jesus is experiencing.  Listen to Mahaney in the sermon set to video and you can hear his passion!  I am just barely seeing the incredible comfort to souls who are experiencing the sorrows, trials, dissappointments and distresses in our souls in this life that Jesus by himself bore our pain, and knows our sorrows.  Then, there are our brothers and sisters who face death and real persecution for their faith, they can look to Jesus who died for them, who took away the "cup of his wrath" (Is. 51:17) so that they might have hope that they will live as they face the last enemy.
