WORK AND MARRIAGE

"The great bourgeois experiment: the we can find work enjoyable and marriage romantic"-- Alain de Botton.

Truly, for Christians we should find meaning in work and marriage in Christ. As we serve the Lord Christ and honor Him, we should glorify Him. In this can we experience meaning and fulfillment. Otherwise we will be tempted to find meaning in our work and romance, making them idols in our lives. Even as we serve Christ, we will always be fighting the flesh--the feel good, hedonistic lure to indulge in our work and romance as if they were first place for fulfillment.
Even so, God has made work and romance for our good and our pleasure when subordinated to life in Christ. There are many good pleasures in this world, but none will fulfill us; only eternal life in Christ will staisfy.
